Annual leave entitlement
Annual leave entitlement, calculated for you and correctly
İzin360 grants each employee's annual leave automatically on their entitlement date, in line with the Labour Law. Balances, carried-over days and every movement are tracked on one screen.
- 14 / 20 / 26-day tiers applied automatically
- Unused annual leave never expires; it carries over
- Holidays and weekly rest days are not deducted
Automatic entitlement under the Labour Law
The entitlement depends on the employee's length of service on their entitlement date and is added to the balance that day. No manual calculations or year-end spreadsheets.
- 14 days for 1 to 5 years of service (5 included), 20 days for more than 5 and less than 15 years, 26 days for 15 years or more
- At least 20 days for employees aged 18 or younger and 50 or older
- 4 extra days for employees working underground
- A warning when a birth date is missing, as the age rule may not be applied
Entitlement dates shift correctly
Periods that do not count as service for entitlement, such as unpaid leave, push the next entitlement date back by the same number of days (Labour Law art. 54/2). Employees see the shift and the number of days on their own screen.
- Each leave type defines whether it counts as service for entitlement (art. 55)
- Employees see their next entitlement date and how many days they will earn
- When employment ends no new entitlement arises; unused days are paid at the final wage (art. 59)
Balance and ledger
The balance is broken down into this service year, carried-over days, days pending approval and any advance. Every change appears in the ledger with a date and description.
- Accruals, usage, refunds for cancellations and HR adjustments in one ledger
- Unused annual leave has no expiry date; it all carries over
- When moving from spreadsheets or another system, carried-over days are entered as opening balances
- Balances accurate to the half day
Day counting that fits your working pattern
Leave days are counted against your company's working week and holiday calendar. Public holidays and company days off are not deducted.
- Working days and hours are set for your company
- On a five-day week, whether Saturdays count towards annual leave is an explicit company setting; the default, in the employee's favour, is “not counted”
- A leave day that falls on a half-day holiday, such as a religious holiday eve, counts as 0.5 days
- Advance leave is optional and switched off by default
Plan when leave gets taken
Reports help you schedule accumulated leave in good time and see new entitlements coming up.
- Leave to be scheduled: employees whose remaining annual leave exceeds a threshold you set
- Entitlement anniversaries: employees about to earn new leave, with the number of days
How it works
- 1
Add your employees
Add employees one by one or with the Excel template, including their start date, birth date and, where relevant, underground work.
- 2
Enter opening balances
Record annual leave carried over from before as opening balances; tracking continues automatically from that date.
- 3
Entitlements are granted automatically
On each entitlement date the new days are added to the balance; usage and cancellations show up in the ledger straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Does unused annual leave expire?
No. The right to paid annual leave cannot be waived (Labour Law art. 53); unused leave accumulates for as long as employment continues and is paid at the final wage when the contract ends (art. 59). In İzin360, annual leave has no expiry date, and carried-over days are shown separately in the balance.
Do Saturdays count towards annual leave?
It depends on your contracts. Under the settled practice of the 9th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation, if the employment contract or collective agreement does not define Saturday as a weekly rest day, Saturday is a working day even if nobody works that day, and it counts towards leave. In İzin360 this is an explicit company setting; the default is the employee-friendly “not counted”.
Does unpaid leave affect the entitlement date?
By default, yes. In the case law of the Court of Cassation, unpaid leave does not count as service for annual leave entitlement, so it pushes the next entitlement date back by the number of days taken (Labour Law art. 54/2). İzin360 applies the shift automatically and shows it to the employee.
What happens to existing balances when we switch from another system?
After importing employees with the Excel template, you enter the annual leave carried over from before as an opening balance for each employee. It appears in the ledger as an opening balance, and later entitlements are granted automatically.
Can we allow advance leave?
Optionally. Advance leave is not regulated by the Labour Law and is switched off by default in İzin360. When you switch it on, annual leave requests that exceed the balance go to approval with a warning, and the difference is deducted from the next entitlement.
