Time off in lieu and arrangements
Time off in lieu, nursing leave and half-time work in one place
Time off in lieu of overtime, nursing leave and half-time work after maternity leave don't work like day-based leave requests. İzin360 records them with their own rules, tracks the deadlines and lets people know when the time comes.
- Time off in lieu valid for 6 months, deadline tracked
- Employees choose their own nursing hours
- Half-time work length follows birth order
Time off in lieu of overtime
HR records the time off an employee has earned for overtime in a separate balance. The employee uses it with a normal leave request.
- Each entry is valid for 6 months from the date it was earned
- Time off in lieu cannot be taken beyond the balance or as an advance
- Employees get a reminder 30 days before it expires
- Expired time is removed from the balance, and the employee and HR are told it must be paid as overtime
Time off in lieu report
The report shows, per employee, the time remaining, the time about to expire and the time that expired in the chosen period.
- Days expiring within the next 30 days, in a separate column so you can schedule them
- Days that expired in the period, listed for payment as overtime in that period's payroll
Nursing leave
Female employees with a child under one year old receive a total of 1.5 hours of nursing leave a day. HR creates the arrangement; the period is calculated from the child's birth date.
- The employee decides the hours and how the time is split, and can record them herself
- Nursing leave counts as working time
- No day-based leave request is needed
Half-time work after maternity leave
After maternity leave ends, the employee receives unpaid leave for half of the weekly working hours. İzin360 calculates the end date from the legal period.
- 60 days after a first birth, 120 after a second and 180 after later births
- 30 days are added for multiple births; if the child is born with a disability the period is 360 days
- Nursing leave does not apply during half-time work, so the two arrangements cannot overlap
- An arrangement can be ended early with a reason, and the action is recorded
How it works
- 1
HR creates the record
HR adds time off in lieu to the employee's balance, or creates a nursing leave or half-time work arrangement using the child's birth date.
- 2
Periods are calculated automatically
The 6-month validity of time off in lieu and the end date of each arrangement are set according to the Labour Law.
- 3
People are told when it matters
Employees are reminded before their time off in lieu expires; expired time appears in notifications and the report for payment.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if time off in lieu is not used within 6 months?
The expired time is removed from the time off in lieu balance but is not lost: the employee and HR are notified that it must be paid as overtime. The time off in lieu report also lists the days that expired in a chosen period so you can pass them to payroll.
How is time off in lieu recorded?
HR adds the time off an employee has earned for overtime to their balance from the employee's page. Each entry is tracked with its own 6-month validity, and the employee uses it with a normal leave request.
Who decides the nursing leave hours?
The employee. Under the Labour Law, the employee decides between which hours nursing leave is used and how many parts it is split into (art. 74/7). HR creates the arrangement, and the employee can record the hours from her own screen.
How is the half-time work period calculated?
It starts the day after postnatal maternity leave ends and lasts 60 days after a first birth, 120 after a second and 180 after later births. 30 days are added for multiple births, and if the child is born with a disability the period is 360 days (art. 74/2). HR selects the birth order and the end date is calculated automatically.
Can nursing leave and half-time work be used at the same time?
No. The nursing leave provisions do not apply during half-time work (Labour Law art. 74/2), and İzin360 does not let the two arrangements fall in the same period.
