How is the return date calculated?
Annual leave is taken in working days; weekly rest days, national holidays and public holidays within the leave are not counted (Labour Law, Art. 56/5).
- The calculation counts only working days from the start date; weekly rest days and full-day public holidays are skipped.
- The eves of the Ramadan Feast and the Feast of Sacrifice, and 28 October, are holidays from 13:00; if the leave covers them, they count as half days.
- Where Saturday is worked, it is a working day and is deducted from leave; choose your working week accordingly.
- Company-specific days off and travel leave are not included.
Frequently asked questions
Are weekends included in annual leave?
No. Weekly rest days within the leave are not counted (Labour Law, Art. 56/5). Someone working Monday to Friday who starts 10 working days of leave on a Monday returns on the Monday two weeks later.
Is a public holiday during leave deducted?
No. National and public holidays are not counted towards the leave; the leave is extended by those days (Art. 56/5).
How is the eve of a feast counted during leave?
Eves are holidays from 13:00. If the leave covers an eve, that day counts as half a day of leave.
Is Saturday deducted from leave where Saturdays are worked?
